If you’ve listened to anybody promoting inter-denominational unity, you’ll probably have heard the statement: there is infinitely more that unites us than divides us.
It’s again a nice statement but, if we are true Christians, it is also a lie.
Sure, Protestantism came out of the Catholic Church and has inherited some of her plagues. Some churches, such as the Anglican Church, hold many of the same beliefs as the Catholics, as well as sharing styles of prayer, rules and regulations, pomp and ceremony, incense, and veneration of the saints.
In fact, there is a good argument that, if there is more that unites us than divides us from churches that practice pagan rituals and do the opposite of what the Bible teaches, we need to open our eyes and get out while we still can, setting ourselves apart.
Yet still the concept that ‘Jesus prayed for us to all come back together’ lives on and gathers momentum.
United behind another Jesus?
In 2016, Together 2016 (also called Reset) called for Christians of all denominations to put their differences aside and create a united front in ‘the name of Jesus’.
The plan is to reset the reformation and get the new generation (who are falsely being sold the idea that racial, political and gender division is the same as church division) to create one big happy family.
I’ve said it before – this seems a great idea and I’m sure the intentions are good, but only if everyone legitimately follows Jesus as the only way and lays down wayward religious traditions or New Age concepts.
This is not a ‘little side problem’, it is critical to salvation!
If you’ve read previous chapters, the venue for Together 2016 should come as little surprise because these events are always held at locations with some nod to paganism.
Indeed, Together 2016 held their event at the seat of world power on the National Mall in front of the tallest obelisk in the world, the Washington Monument.
The Pope was of course involved and gave a video speech welcoming people to the event. Catholic priests spoke and prayed for unity alongside organiser Nick Hall and of course Lou Engle. View this video to see what was said.
Other bands and speakers included some of the most high profile and influential names in the Christian world: Hillsong (who are no strangers to Vatican visits or singing at Catholic events), Ravi Zacharias, Francis Chan, Kari Jobe, Casting Crowns, Crowder and Lecrae. When you consider that the likes of Hillsong and Bethel currently contribute a huge proportion of modern worship music (as well as embracing the spirit of Azusa and Toronto), it is worthy of concern.
What’s really interesting about Together 2018 is that it had to be cut short when searing heat made several attendees faint and was judged a risk to life. Praise be to God! See here for a Fox News report.
In 2018, Together 2018 will be held at the Texas Motor Speedway. Jesus Culture of Bethel Church, Hillsong, Brian Houston, and Lecrae are again involved.
Gathering momentum
Other ecumenical events that have involved evangelical, charismatic and Pentecostal Christians include Kyrios 2017, where Kenneth Copeland was among the speakers.
The video here shows Copeland comparing the reformation to racism, calling it demonic, and declaring it dead. He also predicts massive moves towards unity in 2018.
Why is this a problem? Because, as we’ve seen in Chapter 5, absolutely nothing has changed to bring an end to the protest.
Copeland is the richest preacher in America. He is no stranger to promoting an end to the Reformation because he and Anglican Tony Palmer also pronounced it dead several years ago. They also played a personal video address from Pope Francis calling for unity to the congregation, who lapped it up.
Watch the following video, at least from 25 minutes. It is full of twisted Bible verses and is remarkably similar to the rhetoric of Alpha-course founder Nicky Gumble, who I will cover later. Pope Francis appears from 31 minutes.
Tony Palmer died in a motorcycle accident just weeks later.
But the list doesn’t end there. The annual Jesus Conference is just one of many events building the momentum behind unity. It combines the who’s who of red flag speakers: Bill Johnson, Benny Hinn, his son-in-law Michael Koulianos, Lou Engle, Todd White, Kenneth Copeland and, of course, the Catholic Church.
Here’s Todd White and Kenneth Copeland in a shared video where Copeland jokingly tells White that he is ‘spiritually lethal’.
Talking of Todd White, the following video shows him give a ‘prophetic word’ that protestant churches will soon unify with the Catholic church.
Interestingly, like many of these modern ‘prophets’, including Lou Engle and Kenneth Copeland, White can be heard’calling down fire from heaven in this video.
Why would he do that? Don’t these people know that calling down fire from heaven is one of the attributes that the second beast of Revelation uses to deceive true believers in the end times?
Bethel Church even uses something called the ‘fire tunnel’ which (apparently) congregation members pass through to experience the Holy Spirit.
Here’s a Bethel blog from one congregation member explaining how he took his four-year-old and one-year-old baby through this ‘fire tunnel’ several times.
Here’s another Charismatic teacher, Heidi Baker, delivering a similar ‘prophetic word’. In this video she says God has told her that the Assemblies of God, Bethel, Catholics and others will all come together.
Is it truly coming from God? You decide.
As with the other teachers and churches mentioned above, I’m sure Heidi Baker does good things, but when you see problems or warning signs, it is only caring to point them out.
What can’t be questioned though is that such examples of calls for unity (like the spirit of the Toronto Blessing) are increasing like the plague.

In these end times, you’ll also hear constant talk from leading Christians about ‘revival’ and ‘a new movement of the spirit’.
But what does Jesus say about the End Times?
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition”
2 Thessalonians 2:2
What? A great falling away led by the ‘man of sin’? Not a revival? It’s not hard to see what is unfolding in front of our eyes.
Much like in Jesus’s time, the scene is being set but, sadly, just as the Israelites failed to recognise Christ because they were blinded by poor religious teaching and tradition, so I fear many will miss the anti-Christs in our midst.
